When celeb divorces hit the pockets
Celebrities can do pretty much anything because of the money they possess. If they could, they would even go for the moon. That is, if they know its significance to their lives and careers.
If they marry, they’d go for the big celebration, the most lavish party, the most exotic islands, the biggest locations, the most number of the guests and even meal courses. If they divorce, it is also the same. Just like a mirror.
According to Forbes’ article of celeb splits, “Celebrity divorces are big business.” It doesn’t matter if there’s only of the two parties is the celebrity and gets a huge paycheck from their works and outside resources like endorsements, the other person will walk away with a full bank account anyway.
In fact, the longer the couple was married, the more the other one will get from the divorce.
“By and large, these weren’t quickie marriages —after all, in general, the longer the marriage, the richer the payout. On average, these one-time power couples were married for 12½ years, and the settlements reflect that.”
No wonder some celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Renee Zellweger didn’t waste time to get rid of their husbands as fast as they could.
Forbes pointed out that “the list is populated exclusively by superstar men who settled with their ex-wives — a reflection of the historic dominance men have played in the entertainment industry. Though stars like Kirstie Alley and Janet Jackson have ponied up settlements to their ex-husbands, the biggest awards by far are paid out by men. Expensive as these divorces are, the husbands can certainly afford them. Many of them have dominated our annual Celebrity 100 ranking of the world’s most powerful — and best-paid — stars for years. For instance, Steven Spielberg, who split from wife Amy Irving in the late 1980s, made $332 million last year alone (overall, his net worth is estimated at $3 billion). The Rolling Stones, fronted by lithe rocker Mick Jagger, who had his marriage to model Jerry Hall annulled in 1999, enjoyed the most lucrative tour of their 30-plus-year career last year, pulling in $90 million.”
Here is the Forbes’ list of 10 Most Expensive Divorces in the entertainment industry
And the former celeb couple who would top it all is none other than basketball star Michael and Juanita Jordan. The settlement could reach possibly more than $150 million if finalised!
