Nicole Kidman must be happy.

First off, the actress and country singer Keith Urban has just survived the many ups and downs of their first year after marryingat the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Sydney exactly a year ago.

Second, she got to celebrate her birthday with her love. Husband Keith threw a birthday surprise by paying her a visit, watching a fireworks display and spending the event quietly.

The porcelain-skinned actress turned 40 last Wednesday and was deeply suprised when hubby Keith took a pause from his US tour to see her in Australia.

The country singer arrived in Sydney early on Tuesday morning before taking a private jet to Queensland’s Whitsunday Coast, where Nicole is filming new movie “Australia” opposite Hugh Jackman.

The couple celebrated Nicole’s 40th birthday by watching a fireworks display from a mountaintop lookout in the beach town of Bowen.

One source told Australia’s Daily Telegraph, “Keith brought her up the hill and they sat on a couch outside on the lawn. It was so romantic. He had planned to have a party in a mountain-top restaurant but she wanted a quiet affair. So Keith just surprised her with a fireworks display. It was a private thing with just him and her.”

The display ended with the words “Happy Birthday Nicole” spelt out by fireworks. The two also visited nearby Horseshoe Bay beach. The 39-year-old Keith will return to continue his “Love, Pain and the whole crazy World Tour” next week.

It was also known that “Australia” director Baz Luhrmann, who directed Nicole on “Moulin Rouge,” also threw a birthday party for the actress, which consisted of Nicole’s favourite caterers to be flown in from the United States.

Two days before that a party was also thrown in by her friends and family in what seemed to be an all-girls affair to “celebrate her last weekend as a thirtysomething” on Bondi Beach.

Even though the award-winning actress hits the big 40, she doesn’t mind it all.

“It feels just right. I don’t feel what I thought that wretched age was going to be like. I have done a lot of things and it has been full up to this point, especially the past few years, so I am grateful for that.”

It is not known if the blonde actress still tends to have her own children. There have been reports of her impending pregnancy throughout their marriage. She has two adopted children with actor and former husband Tom Cruise.
