Dawson’s Creek Star James Van Der Beek Separates From Wife Heather McCombs
Rumor has it that 32-year-old James William Van Der Beek Jr. and his wife 32-year-old actress Heather McComb have separated. It was James Vander Beek’s representative that alerted the media to the separation and impending divorce of the once happy couple. The separation occurred around two months ago and the couple who has no children have remained friends.
James Van Der Beek is well known for his portrayal of Dawson Leery on the television series “Dawson’s Creek.” Vanderbeek married Heather McComb on July 2003 in Malibu after the shows final season.
Heather McComb has been acting since the age of 2 and has appeared in over a dozen films including “Don’s Plum” and “Shark Swam.” Over the past decade McComb has made numerous television appearances on hit TV shows such as “CSI,” “Without a Trace,” and “Prison Break.”
Both James Van Der Beek and Heather McComb practice the Kabbalah faith and are regular visitors to the Kabbalah Centre. Some other celebrities who practice the Kabbalah faith include Madonna, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, and Naomi Campbell.
Unlike most celebrities these days Vander Beek and McComb did not marry on a whim. They enjoyed a 17-month long engagement and held a romantic outdoor ceremony and reception with 120 guests. Several of James Van Der Beek’s “Dawson’s Creek” co-stars were in attendance. On screen love interest “Michelle Williams” and “Dawson Leery’s” screen mom “Mary-Margaret Humes” were there to share the special day.
Heather McComb and James Van Der Beek had separate wedding cakes that reflected their very different tastes. At the time of their wedding some journalists joked that the separate cakes were a sign of future marital problems.
