Couples of the Week: Celebs with multiple marriages
Someone I know, an acquaintance, has married her lover after less than a year of being divorced. It is for me too fast.
I am not sure if I am the only one who thinks like this. Of course, I understand her actions. You’ll never know if he/she is the love of your life unless you try.
Starting Saturday, she has married twice. Not that there is something wrong with that.
Marriage and divorce have become synonymous with the modern lifestyle. And if you are thinking that it is the fault of the celebrities for making them ordinary. You are wrong. The holder of the multiple marriage belongs to a church man and he goes by the name of Glynn Wolfe. He was a baptist minister who resided in Blythe, California. He got married 22 times because he feared living in sin.
The celebs’ lives are always highlighted by the media. They portray them as super-humans who more or less get and do what they want. Even bad publicity is always good publicity. In turn, the public is so taken by them that they forgive their status.
It isn’t their fault. Marriage has become cheaper these days. That’s all.
I am now declaring the list of actors and actresses who fell in love going to the altar, those who aren’t tired of saying I do.
1. Zsa Zsa Gabor- nine times, her shortest marriage was one day to a Mexican actor-lawyer. She has currently been married since 1986 (21 years), by far her longest marriage, to Frederic von Anhalt, who was said to have been adopted by a German princess. When the controversial porn actress Anna Nicole Smith died, Frederic claimed that he fathered her daughter Daniellyn, due to the money she will inherit, and was in a relationship with her for a decade.
2. Mickey Rooney–8 times, the shortest was 100 days the longest was 22 years. One of them is Ava Gardner, who later mentioned that their love life was like Mickey’s movie “Love Finds Andy Hardy.” When the actor uttered emotionally about Ava’s performance in bed, Ava was known to say, “Well, honey, he may have enjoyed the sex, but I sure as hell didn’t.” The two divorced due to Mickey’s partying ways in 1943.
3. Elizabeth Taylor, eight times. The dame is rumoured that she will marry again but her friends denied this saying that it is silly and the Dame and Jason Winters are only friends. Her twice husband Richard Burton, whom she shared a very passionate affair, had given her precious presents including the La Peregrina Pearl on Valentine’s day in 1969. The pearl was formerly owned by Mary I of England and was given to her by Philip II of Spain on their wedding. One can see the jewel from the queen’s 1554 portrait, which was donated by Richard and Elizabeth upon knowing that the National Portrait Gallery didn’t have any copy of the painting.
4. Lana Turner, married eight times. She married the actor and restaurateur Josef Stephen Crane in 1942-43 and then 1943-44. They re-married in order to provide for their newborn daughter, Cheryl, Lana’s only child. For his part, Stephen also married eight times. Lana claimed to have said actor Tyrone Power was the love of her life though they never married.
5. Greg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band married six times, most famously to Cher.
6. Tony Curtis married six times. He is the father of the actresses Jamie Lee Curtis and Kelly Curtis from their mother Janet Leigh, whom we all remember as the victim from the immortal and often copied shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho.” They were a power couple for 11 years until he left her for a younger actress, the French-Austrian Christine Kaufmann. They met on the set of “Taras Bulba” when she was barely 18. They also have two daughters.
7. Joan Collins, five times, the actress and novelist apart from marrying several men also enjoyed affairs with Conrad Hilton Jr. (who married Elizabeth Taylor and the sisters Paris and Nicky are his grand-nieces), the then 18-year-old Dennis Hopper, Ryan O’Neal, Terence Stamp and Warren Beatty.
8. Billy Bob Thornton married five times, notably his fired up and sexual affair with Angelina Jolie, where they supposed to be engaged in sadomasochistic relationship and shared vials of blood. The media portrays him as this Hollywood’s “got-to Alpha male” maybe due to his talent, luck of women and the intensity to achieve his goals. He has a two-year-old child Bella with girlfriend Connie Angland. The actor mentioned that it is likely that he wouldn’t marry anymore as it “doesn’t work” for him.
“Probably not. I don’t want to put someone through that in the papers — ‘Here’s another one,’ you know? I do have a girlfriend and we’ve been living together two or three years and that’s who I have my daughter with. She understands I don’t really want to do that. It’s not that I have anything against marriage as an institution. It just doesn’t work for me. I think maybe the official documentation for me creates a sort of claustrophobia in me, maybe.”
9. Charlie Chaplin married four times, The Tramp’s legendary film and his first talkie “The Great Dictator” is celebrating its 67th year of release. Paulette Goddard, who was his third wife, costarred with him. He and his last wife Oona O’Neill, the daughter of author and playwright Eugene O’Neill, produced eight children including the actress Geraldine Chaplin. Charlie was fifty-four. She just turned 18. When Charlie died Oona succumbed to alcoholism and died from pancreatic cancer in 1991.
10. Geena Davis married four times. The actress, who is a member of the American Mensa, married fourth husband Iranian-American Dr. Reza Jarrahy in 2001. They have three children–Alizeh Keshvar, fraternal twins Kian William Jarrahy and Kaiis Steven Jarrahy. Her previous husbands include actor Jeff Goldblum.
It is no wonder that these celebrities married their colleagues or their colleagues’ exes. They move in the same circle.
Zsa Zsa Gabor, Frederic von Anhalt, Anna Nicole Smith, Mickey Rooney, Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Mary I of England, Philip II of Spain, Lana Turner, Stephen Crane, Greg Allman, Cher, Tony Curtis, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kelly Curtis, Janet Leigh, Christine Kaufmann, Joan Collins, Conrad Hilton Jr., Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Dennis Hopper, Ryan O’Neal, Terence Stamp, Warren Beatty, Billy Bob Thornton, Angelina Jolie, Charlie Chaplin, Oona O’Neill, Eugene O’Neill, Paulette Goddard, Geena Davis, Dr. Reza Jarrahy, Jeff Glodblum

Believe you have to consider all aspects in the current economic climate - personally do no think we have seen the full extent of the recesssion, so would be cautious in considering.
