The festival in the southern part of France is taking the heat these days.
Tagged as “world’s most famous film festival and its largest film market,” the Festival de Cannes has been with us for over 60 years, not counting its false starts before the World War II, it has witnessed the careers of the international actors made or ruined. Films are screened and still racing to earn the Golden Palm (Palm d’Or).
On its eighth day, press has uncovered the actors prowling solo (or their chaperones undetected) and getting the attention. But most of all, the celebrity couples who attend together and present themselves in front of the star-gazing public.
And now, I present to you the last-seen celebrity couples in pictures.

The newlyweds and Bollywood’s darlings, Abhishek Bachan and Aishwarya Rai, appeared together after their extravagant wedding in India. They attended the screening of Wong Kar Wai’s “My Blueberry Nights.”

The French director Claude Leloch and the Italian actress Alessandra Martines have been together since 1993. They have one child. Director Claude has been married twice and spawned several children from his past partners. She has starred under his direction including “Les Misérables” in (1995) and “And Now… Ladies and Gentlemen…” (2002).

Alexandra Maria Lara admitted to Die Welt that it was the first time she fell in love during the shooting.
“If you fall in love, that is somewhat very personal and private. And it does not have to do anything with the the way you portray the film. It is my job. I don’t mix acting with my true feelings on the scene.” She was referring to newcomer Sam Riley. The actress thinks Sam is not only sympathetic but also talented, as attested by the rest of the crew.
The couple fell in love while they started filming “Control,” directed by famous photo artist Anton Corbijn. Sam played the melancholic singer of Joy Division, Ian Curtis. The German-Romanian actress Alexandra portrayed Annik Honoré, Ian’s Belgian mistress. It is an adaptation from the book of Deborah Cutis, the late singer’s wife. Sam is a singer of an indie band while Alexandra has earned quite an accomplisment in her hometown notably with “Der Untergang” (Downfall), which tells the story of Adolf Hitler’s final days in the bunker.

The power pair Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attended the screening of “The Mighty Heart,” which unfortunately out of the competition.

Billy Zane is currently dating British model turned actress Kelly Brook whom he met on the set of “Survival Island.” After the film was released, the couple tried unsuccessfully to remove Kelly’s nude scenes. In 2006, they announced their engagement.

One of Hollywood’s enduring relationships, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have been together since 1982. The two reconnected on the set of “Swing Shift” having worked previously in 1968’s “The One and Only,” then later in “Genuine” and “Original Family Band.” They have a son, Wyatt Russell, who is now in college. The family has chosen Vancouver, B.C., Canada as their domicile. Pained with their experience of having married previously and then later divorced, the two actors don’t see marrying again as a reason for their long-standing affair.

The public might view actress Rose McGowan as a bitch and a homewrecker but she is proving to be reaping off the rewards of being Robert Rodriguez’s paramour.

The Swiss actor Vincent Perez is pictured here with his wife Karine Silla attending the premiere of “Le Scaphandre et le Papillon” (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly). They have four children, daughter Iman, twins Pablo and Inès, and a step-daughter, Roxanne, whose father is Gérard Depardieu, Vincent’s co-star from “Cyrano de Bergerac.”

New James Bond Craig Mitchell is accompanied by his girlfriend producer Satsuki Mitchell at the New Line’s 40th Anniversary Golden Compass party.
