Couple of the Week: Anthony Kiedis and Heather Christie, or why age doesn’t matter
Love moves in mysterious ways, so they say. Therefore we see people fall in love beyond the colour of their skin, their nationality, hair colour, creed and ages.
But lust encompasses everything. That means you lose your mind, your reasoning, if you are under its spell.
With bad news and literature surrounding us and accounts of pedophilia or rape or sexual abuse/exploitation on minors are in them, it is just normal to react whenever we see older men and very young girls holding hands together. Immediately, it is the man we normally think who do the bidding, who seduce the girls, that they tricked these pretty young things to come to them.
Most of all these men assume that younger women are easy to manipulate.
But are they?
Often men are easily forgiven, or their actions are ignored. Especially if you are a rock star. Blame the collaboration of the society and the media?
Like Rod Stewart who is going to marry Penny Lancaster on June 16 in a luxury hotel on the Italian island of Capri. Or Marilyn Manson and his present paramour Evan Rachel Wood and their controversial video.
For Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers, it is time to shape up. It appears that the life with drugs, wild fun and orgy, the pitfalls of fame is over. Even though for a while now that he is going to be a father. Life has never been this great ever since the band’s sock-on-the-crotch wearing days. His girlfriend the socialite and sometime Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ tour photographer, Heather Christie, is reportedly carrying his child who will arrive in September. Heather used to date the eccentric actor Vincent Gallo.
Well, Anthony is 44 and Heather is 20. So go figure.
Last month the couple was spotted having a coffee with another female friend at Peets Coffee in Santa Monica, California. The erratic singer of RHCP constantly groped his gf’s bulging belly. He appeared amazed, fascinated, or entranced by this development that you couldn’t help admiring him.
Yes, this is the same man who previously linked to Ione Skye, Sofía Coppola, Sinéad O’Connor, Heidi Klum, and even the German punk-cabaret singer Nina Hagen. Blender, which did an extensive interview on him in March, suggests he is the postpunk Frank Sinatra.
Sespite their shaky start, the two have managed to stay together. In fact, his state of affairs has always been the subject in music discussion forums, relating how he two-timed Heather, his flings with with certain fashion models, his arrogance and his black heart. Even their female followers think that he is not the marrying type. Some of them call Heather prude and even martyr for forgiving the singer. There were speculations that Anthony cheated on Heather with Jessica Stam, known simply as Stam in the fashion world. The Canadian supermodel briefly lived with the singer. The two broke up and got back together.
Take note that Jessica is as young as Heather.
“I don’t really attract that kind of energy now, anyway,” he says of casual hookups. “You really get what you put out there.” A serial monogamist–albeit a monogamist whose recently reported squeezes were models Jaime Rishar and Jessica Stam–Kiedis is now more interested in permanence. “And you don’t want to date a fan. I don’t think I would be attracted to someone who’s too attracted to me. My Spidey sense doesn’t allow that.”
How did they meet?
Instead, his Spidey sense most recently drew him to a young woman he first espied at a rooftop party in Hollywood. “I saw this beautiful face smiling throughout the night,” he recalls. He said hello, found out she had a boyfriend, but cadged a commitment to have coffee. After some time apart, he and 20-year-old Heather Christie reconnected and began dating, and they are now cohabitating. “On paper there was no reason whatsoever we should have gotten along,” he says of Christie, who on their first date took him on a tour of her hometown of Simi Valley. “But when I hung out with her, I didn’t want to hang out with anybody else.”
They’re even considering a little Kiedis. “Yes, I wanna have kids,” he confirms.
…Later, Kiedis reveals that Heather was one of the inspirations for the new song “She’s Only 18.” It begins “She’s only 18/Don’t like the Rolling Stones.” It’s an immutable law of love that you can’t enjoy or detest a song with the same passion once someone you love feels otherwise.
It could be that having a child might be the reason of the tattooed singer’s mellowing and finds settling down with Heather not a bad idea.
Thus, the new Kiedis. He lives in L.A. but not Hollywood. He prefers his Vespa to his Harley. (“Not as fast, but quieter and I can write songs while I ride.”) And as far as music goes, Kiedis’s tastes have broadened if not mellowed. “I’ll listen to anything now,” he says. “I even try to keep an open mind for simple pop music, which I used to make a living detesting.”

You know, sometimes you really don’t know who you are dating and what motivates them. But you can check them out if you want for free. It’s not hard to Google someone or whatever and see what they have been up to. Most of the time, it’s nothing, but it’s that once in a thousand change that there is. And if there is, wouldn’t you like to know? Me too
