Camilla: I am not going to Diana’s memorial service

Call it guilt.
Camilla, the Duchess of of Cornwall and Prince Charles’ second wife, has announced today that she won’t attend Lady Diana’s 10th anniversary memorial service.
It was recalled that both princes William and Harry invited their stepmother to join them in commemorating their dead mother, who was Camilla’s arch-enemy. Camilla had initially accepted then.
Now that day nears Camilla decided not to go. She feared that her her attendance “could divert attention from the purpose of the occasion.”
Critics believed that her attendance would just massacre the memory of the late Princess of Wales. It has been dubbed unacceptable by many people, especially that Diana is still considered to be the folks’ Princess.
Inappropriate was the word they used as Camilla used to have an affair with the Prince of Wales while he was still married with the deceased Diana.
In a statement explaining her decision to pull out, Camilla said: “I’m very touched to have been invited by Prince William and Prince Harry to attend the thanksgiving service for their mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
“I accepted and wanted to support them, however, on reflection I believe my attendance could divert attention from the purpose of the occasion which is to focus on the life and service of Diana.
“I’m grateful to my husband, William and Harry for supporting my decision.”
The service will be held at Guards’ Chapel at Wellington Barracks in London on Friday. The Princess of Wales died on August 31, 1997 after a high speed car accident in the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris along with Dodi Al-Fayed, her rumoured lover at that time, and their driver Henri Paul. Dodie was the son of the Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, owner of the British department store Harrods, Fulham Football Club and the Hôtel Ritz Paris. Dodi’s mother was Samira Kashoggi, sister of the notorious weapons dealer, Adnan Khashoggi.
After Camilla and her first husband Andrew Parker Bowles divorced in 1995, Diana, appearing on Panorama, mentioned in November:
“There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”
