Biennale Opening Night Party
It is up and about at the Venice Film 64th Venice Film Festival, a.k.a. Biennale.
Like every splashy movie festival, Biennale isn’t short of glamour and is regarded as one of the institutions in the film industry.
The opening ceremony took place at the Palazzo del Cinema around 7 p.m., and was hosted by Ambra Angiolini, an Italian actress. “Atonement” by UK director Joe Wright was the first film to be screened in competition. This is the second time Joe and Keira worked together. They did “Pride and Prejudice” before.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the film got quite a “strong” reception. It stars Keira Knightley, who is the darling of the press at the moment. She tagged along her boyfriend Rupert Friend.
Weight shouldn’t be an issue. It is a matter of a personal choice. As long as you are happy with it then go for it. But I am sorry to say that the appearance of Keira and her bf Rupert tandem is a big exaggerating. They look unhealthy to me.
Other actors who are on the film are James McAvoy of “The Last King of Scotland” fame, Rosamund Pike, who’s dating the director Joe, and Vanessa Redgrave, who brought her longtime partner and now husband Franco Nero.

Vanessa and Franco’s love story stretched almost four decades but had an interim for about a decade when Vanessa was involved with Timothy Dalton. She used to be married with Tony Richardson. In 1967 her husband left her for French actress Jeanne Moreau. Vanessa and Franco, who married January this year, have one son, Carlo, who is a scriptwriter and a director.

The report also suggests that A-list stars will be there to grace and pose for the next 11 days.
Brad Pitt might not be there during opening but his film, the oddly (and quite long actually) titled “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” with Casey Affleck is included. Everyone expects that he will grace the screening night. Lucky Venetians!
Brad’s friend George Clooney also has a movie to be screened, “Michael Clayton,” with Tilda Swinton. It is scheduled to be premiered tonight, European time. So watch out!
Another movie lined up is the new project of “Crash” writer-director Paul Haggis “In the Valley of Elah” with Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones. As well as the new works from directors Woody Allen, Ang Lee, Kenneth Branagh, and Japanese provocateur Takashi Miike.

The founders of Missoni, Rosita and Ottavio, were there too as guests but probably to dress up some celebrities.
